“Age Before Beauty” Westbound coal empties, with Chessie System/B&O SD50 8590 in charge, are paused on the Hood siding to meet a higher priority eastbound trailer train with CS/C&O SD40 7561 in the lead, at West Hood (mp 33.1) on the Old Main Line Subdivision. While coal, grain, and their empties were typically routed on the OML at this time, the trailer train was an unusual sight, and probably a re-route due to a reported derailment on the Metropolitan Subdivision.
