A third section of a Canadian National coal train has just finished loading its 50 cars at Teck’s Cardinal River Operation near Cadomin, Alberta, on August 8, 2016. The train loaded with two ES44ACs on the head end, but one is now set up as rear DPU and will continue its duty as rear DPU after the train is combined with the other two sections at Bickerdike (near Edson). The lead locomotive, lone CN ES44AC No. 2900, now runs around its train at the loader and will tie onto the east end of the train. This locomotive configuration will be used for the steep 3% grade of the 5.5-mile Luscar Industrial Spur toward Leyland and a trip east (north) on the Mountain Park and Foothills Subdivisions.
