It doesn't get much more "Donner" than this! (Except for perhaps some SP Tunnel Motors or Cab Forwards). Climbing the same grade that trains have been battling for nearly 150 years, an empty grain train is grinding up the unrelenting west slope of Donner Pass, crossing over Butte Gulch and then emerging from Shed 10 on the climb to the summit of the Sierra Nevada. When this train reaches the top at Norden in 13 miles, it will have climbed over 6,700 feet in the approximately 87 miles since leaving Roseville.
