On April 19, 1986, CSX’ former Baltimore & Ohio Philadelphia line was experiencing signal problems. Trains were required to come to a complete stop and confirm block permission with the dispatcher at each signal. What was a railroader’s nightmare was a railfan’s dream as the one of the hottest trains on the line could be leap-frogged over and over again.
