Just out of Lindenwood yard in Webster Groves, ten miles southwest of St. Louis, Frisco SD45 931 with U30B 841 and another SD45 set out westbound on March 22, 1975. SLSF was one of the first customers for EMD’s big 3,600-hp SD45’s when they started rolling out of La Grange in 1966, and ended up buying 49, opting for the big L-shaped window on the engineer’s side. This spotting feature will help distinguish them from Burlington Northern’s own fleet of SD45s when that road acquires the Frisco in 1980.
