Express Service to Jim Thorpe. A Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern Express passenger train charges north across the Little Schuylkill River in West Penn, Pennsylvania just after dawn on a cloudy, frigid morning in February. The power this morning is the line's famous "Blue Pacific" #425 and she's got a baggage express and 3 heavy commuter coaches in tow. This was the 425's first set of run-bys out on the line during a 2-day photo charter operated by Lerro Productions. The high-drivered "Four-and-a-Quarter" is one of the loudest and fastest steam locomotives in the Eastern US and during the course of this trip, she would prove to all present how she got that reputation. I normally tell my stories with stills, but this was one trip when I really wish a photograph had an audio channel, so you could all enjoy some serious stack talk.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
