What a rare sight in the year 2014, a GE standard cab locomotive leading a train on the transcon! I got the heads up while in class about a trio of CSX units leading a Memphis, TN to Los Angeles Harbor, CA intermodal train. Luckily class ended early, which gave me enough time to run towards to Darling to grab this guy at last light. I had no idea that all three units were painted in the classic CSX blue, gray, and yellow scheme. A lash up like that is rare on CSX rails, let alone in Arizona! The trio of old GEs rumble and pump out a lot of exhaust as they slowly climb the 1.5 percent grade of the Arizona Divide, making for a great sight that may not happen anytime soon.
