Designed by Collett for the Great Western Railway, and introduced in 1938,the 'Manor' class locos were designed for branch line work as mixed traffic locos. The class were troubled by poor steaming problems, which had been corrected by the time the second batch of locos were delivered,in 1950.7820 "Dinmore Manor",delivered in November 1950,was the first of this "second batch",but only saw 15 years service, being withdrawn in November 1965.The loco moved to the Barry scrapyard, where it spent the next 13 years stood out in the open, being rescued in September 1979.An extensive 10 year restoration followed, and the loco is,as reported to me by one of the regular drivers " a good 'un".Here she exits Greet Tunnel,on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, with a service for Cheltenham.
