Without track, we wouldn’t have any trains. Simple twin ribbons of steel laid on wooden (or concrete) ties anchored with spikes and tieplates, all locked in place with ballast. From an overpass at Sheridan, Wyoming, the geometrical structure of track is seen on BNSF’s Big Horn Subdivision. Track that is pounded by millions and millions of tons every year yet still keeps the trains moving despite the abuse.
All those shots of interesting railroad details, what you see trackside, up close and personal! Excludes shots going into my other albums: "Engine Details," "Signal Details," and "Switchstand Shots."
