An interior view of Denver’s Regional Transportation District new electric multiple unit commuter rail cars that will run on four FasTracks rail lines currently under construction. The first four cars were shipped from Hyundai Rotem’s plant in Philadelphia to Denver and were put on display and open for tours at Denver Union Station on December 3-6. RTD has purchased 66 cars to serve the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport, the Northwest Rail Line to Westminster, the Gold Line to Arvada/Wheat Ridge, and the North Metro Rail Line to Thornton. The steel car shells were manufactured at Hyundai Rotem’s plant in South Korea, then shipped to the company’s plant in Philadelphia for final assembly. Each car seats 91 passengers with luggage storage, bike racks, and level boarding for easy access, like wheelchairs, strollers and rolling luggage to the airport.
