Covered carriage of the light railway (Lorenbahn) at Dagebüll in the evening sun. They wait for a Very Important Passenger: me! The front of this vehicle you see on #498612. From Dagebüll on the mainland there is only a dam (length 10km) to the island ‚Oland’. The only possibility for the transport of material and persons are these special vehicles. There is no road and no ferry. Every familiy on this island have an own vehicle, there are open cars and some with a cab. The gauge is 900mm. The owner of this track is the Küstenschutz (Coast Gard). They work on the rail and the island every weekday. Early in the morning or in the evening the tourists can ride with this thing, but only when they spend the night on the island Oland. This is a very very special trip! And the residents drive to work with these cars.
