While looking for a spot to shoot Southern Pacific train CIPTT (the Swift Roadrailer train between City of Industry, California, and Portland, Oregon), we stumbled upon train WCANM (Merchandise, West Colton to Anaheim) waiting in the hole at Walnut, California, for the eastbound CIPTT. While looking for an angle, the crew, seen here, invited us up into the cab. It may be obvious, by the engineer Cliff Friedicks' Pacific Electric hat, that he began his railroading career on southern California's PE before it disappeared into the much larger SP.
