E1594, still sporting her original South African Railway livery, is at the front of this line up of Class 6E1 units, which are seen here staged on a platform at Empangeni Station on the KwaZulu Natal North Coast, waiting to be assigned to their next duty. Sadly the Class 6E1 units no longer work in KwaZulu Natal - their final withdrawal coming not long after this photo was taken. Sugar Wagons are on an adjacent line. E1594 has since been put through the Class 18E Upgrade / Refurbishment program that is being carried out at Koedespoort in Pretoria and emerged during 2013 as a reclassified Class 18E, 18-733.
The red & whisker livery of the South African Railways / Suid Afrikaanse Spoorwee collection. Getting harder to find examples of this fantastic and much loved livery still in service!
