"Last 257"
Susquehanna's rebirth in the 1980s was, in part, due to NS and CSX desiring to access the lucrative New York Metropolitan area. For well over a decade NYS&W rails were polished by overhead intermodal traffic from both railroads to terminals in northern New Jersey. This all changed after the Conrail split, as both NS and CSX would now have direct access to the region. Train 257/258 was one of the last regular intermodal trains to operate before the split. The last run of 257 was supposed to occur on May 29, 1999 but the departure was delayed until the 30th due to a minor derailment of a different train. A commemorative sign was affixed to the front of SD70M 4052 for the event, and it included the incorrect date.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
