The last run of Union Pacific's Junior Old Timer's Special glides down Main 2 of the Evanston Sub at Uintah. At Ogden, the JOTS would hang a right for the Ogden Subdivision main to Pocatello, Idaho. The UP had a small fleet of six GP40X units, built new by EMD between Dec. 1977 and March 1978. They were equipped with 42" wheels on HT-B trucks that were rough riding and unpopular with crews. One of them was destroyed in a wreck in 1997 and all six would be retired and off the roster by 2001.
