Mainline Steam NZ Tour train on the last steam train to Gisborne, seen passing through the restored station of Ormondville en-route to Napier. The line beyond Napier closed in 2012. This is likely the only time a Ka has run here since NZ Railways withdrew steam in 1967.
Mainline Steam Heritage Trust operates steam specials throughout New Zealand from depots in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Each year an inter-island Steam Tour attracts fans from around the world. For more visit www.mainlinesteam.co.nz
