Railway Enthusiasts' Society excursion train from Auckland departs Tokoroa for home in fine style. This was the first excursion for Mainline Steam's locomotive since restoration. The Kinleith branch line was built in the early 1950s to connect Kinleith paper mill to the port of Tauranga.
Railway Enthusiasts Society has operated rail excursions around NZ since 1958, some steam hauled using rolling stock from Glenbrook Vintage Railway which it established in 1970's near Auckland. See www.railfan.org.nz
