The highlight of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway Diesel Gala, over the weekend of 26,27 and 28 July 2013,was the return to traffic, for the first time in 26 years,of class 45 no. 45149.Delivered new to british Railways in December 1961,the loco hauled main line expresses until withdrawn in September 1987.It then languished at various location before being purchased by pop mogul Pete Waterman. In 1996 it was re-sold,this time to the Cotswold Mainline Diesel Group, who have spent many many hours getting the loco back into running condition.Originally numbered D135,the loco is seen here, still in undercoat, departing Toddington station with the first train of the day to Cheltenham.A credit to all involved, and a real pleasure to see this fine machine running again.
