On a gloomy morning along the former Virginian Railway, No. S10 crosses a short trestle in Matoaka, W.Va., with what's left of the town looming below. In the late 80's, Norfolk Southern removed the adjacent track making this a single-track mainline between Princeton and Mullens. Also, the former Norfolk & Western Bluestone Branch runs underneath the trestle which spans south to the Pocahontas mainline at Coopers. This train has just made a pick-up at Clark's Gap, and is beginning the 120 mile trek to Roanoke with an inter-divisional crew on board.
