In the dying moments of the afternoon, with sun nearly below the treeline, a faint horn can be heard in the distance. Spring is in the air, despite the lack of budding trees and flowers, and the sound of birds and peepers fill the air. Soon the classic throbbing of EMD 16-710s join the symphony. A bit closer now the horn sounds, and after a few more minutes, a headlight creeps up in the distance. The classic duo is working hard against their long train, but is slowly gaining speed after climbing the Sussex Pass. Soon flange squeal and flat spots will fade away into the twilight and all will be quiet in sleepy Colgate once again.
