A shot I've had my eye on for quite some time. I think the light would be perfect here for morning westbounds. Until that happens, a snowy mid-April shot will have to do.
Since the Great Northern had their foot in the door at Alex long before the SOO, they had to fly above as per an order from James J. Hill when they constructed the line in 1903. 110 years later, the GN/BN/OTVR is all but a memory, but the SOO lives on as CP's route to Winnipeg.
Where I am shooting from is exactly behind my dads childhood home, and he recollects sitting on the hillside (no trees then) watching the GN go about their work at this very spot. Until its demise in 1992, this was where the east switch was located. Oh the good ol days.
