New England Heritage: Pam Am Railways' heritage unit, Boston and Maine No. 77, rolls along the Kennebec River near Hinkley, Maine on Jan. 5, 2013. The locomotive was painted in August 2011 and was joined three months later by Maine Central No. 52. Although the engines rarely leave yard service, they do a great job of recreating scenes of New England railroading's past when they do hit the road.
