In 1993, the Ontario Northland expanded its operations when it took over a portion of the Canadian National’s former Canadian Northern main line from Cochrane west to Hearst and Calstock, Ontario. In this view a ONR work extra has cleared in weed-encrusted Opasatika siding and a westbound freight, led by GP9 No. 1603, is pulling on past on the afternoon of September 21, 1993. It looks like both the main line AND siding at Opasatika could use a bit of cross-leveling (and probably new rail, new ties, weed spraying, ballast, etc.).
