The Norfolk Southern ran a test grain train from Peoria,Illinois to Des Moines,Iowa over the Iowa Interstate Railroad. The NS grain train and Iowa Interstate's BICB trains were combined in Rock Island,Illinois, and operated as one train from the Quad Cities to Newton,Iowa where they were split up. To add even more interest to the train two Nebraska Central SD40-2 were added at Iowa City,Iowa. I caught the train just East of Kellogg,Iowa,as it is about to go under old Highway 6.
