The 'pointless arrow' commemoratively painted Amtrak P42DC 156 made a round trip from Albany to Montreal on Saturday, March 19, returning on the southbound Adirondack train 68-20 Sunday, March 20. Amtrak 156 rolls down the mainline at Ticonderoga, NY with the classic D&H signal bridges still protecting this particular siding on the CPR Canadian Subdivision.
The Adirondack follows both the Hudson and the Lake Champlain shoreline on its leisurely trip between New York and Montreal. When it started, it was pulled by beautiful ALCO PAs purchased by Delaware & Hudson second-hand from the Santa Fe.
