Locomotives in silhouette always make a stirring sight. This fine Leicestershire sunset provided a perfect opportunity to highlight the purposeful lines of Great Western 2-8-0 No. 3850, a successful class of heavy freight locomotive with design origins as far back as 1903, only a couple of years after the death of Queen Victoria. Production of the type only ceased after World War II. The crew added that 3850 was a most welcome visitor and as fine a freight class as they'd ever driven!
