Rail photography in the early 1900s was a little more involved than the hobby enjoyed by thousands today. There were no high speed, 10 fps, digital SLRs with ultra-high ISO capability and there were no instant results. Processing involved lots of chemicals and showing off one's work, well, that was a major challenge. Here, after several minutes of set-up time, a photographer with what appears to be an old, Speed Graphic, large format camera captures the meeting of a railroad crew on a chilly winter evening.
