An eastbound B&O coal drag grinds up Cranberry Grade west of Terra Alta, WV on October 21, 1977. As seemed to frequently be the case back then, a second generation unit is leading a mixed bag of first generation units. B&O's fleet of F units had been gone for several years when this was taken. With the takeover of WM, B&O had some new F unit fodder. Assigned to Cumberland, they were regulars between Grafton and Baltimore. Simply put, they were being run to death and any serious failure resulted in their retirement.
