Yellow veld grass and clear blue skies are typical of winter in the South African interior. On a cool, sunny morning, RRL Grindrod's ex-SAR/Spoornet/TFR class 91 91-01, works a train of empties to Nyala Shaft. The train has left Transnet tracks and is now running on the branch to the mine. These loco's were built for the 610mm (2'0") gauge and now run on 1067mm (3'6"). The box on the roof is an experimental silencer fitted to the exhaust, to stop complaints from local residents living close to the tracks.
