In March of 2007, the Union Pacific ran an 'Overland Route Super Stack Train' west between Global One in Chicago and the Port of Los Angeles. Pictured on the Lynndyl Subdivision some 25 miles west of Salt Lake City, a DPU helper pushes and pulls the 186 load and 12,322 tons train up the Erda hill grade. The KG1LAE-08 was set up at Global One and was 12,703 feet in length. In the background of this spectacular vantage point is Utah's Stansbury Island along the northwestern shore of the Great Salt Lake.
