Last weekend, I ventured 90 miles south for the winter gala at the Great Central Railway. Virtually all worthwhile vantage points along the railway were festooned with enthusiasts ablaze with orange 'high viz' jackets. Not really designed to enhance a photograph! Fortunately, the rural approaches to to Leicester were free of such delights, allowing some fine opportunities such as this one of the first train of the day. Passing the tangled Hawthorn bushes that line the trackside, is the sole surviving Sir William Stanier-designed 'Mogul' heading purposefully for the city.
