The driver of 43037 gives the photographers waiting for D1015 a wave as it passes Didcot East Junction with an eastbound working. This location has changed comparatively little in the last 40 years. The trees have grown but without obscuring the tracks, there is now an extra set of ladder crossovers (mainly hidden behind the train), there are more lineside equipment cabinets, a superstore complex has been built on the right in the middle distance (thankfully that is now obscured from view), and the power station has an extra lowrise chimney; but despite the many livery changes over the years, HSTs have been everyday motive power here since 1976. All this is about to change, however. The bridge being used for this shot is due to be rebuilt within the next few months, probably rendering this location useless for photography, and electrification is to follow which will definitely do so.
