An eastbound CSX coal drag curves through the color position light signals at Amblersburg, West Virginia, at dawn on a foggy autumn morning. The 80-car train is entering the heart of Cranberry Grade on its climb over the Allegheny Mountains. There are two "heavy" AC4400s on the headend and two more helpers on the rear, all with extra ballast added by GE to increase tractive effort.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
