Record heavy snows buried Stevens Pass last December so BNSF wastes no time bringing out the big guns to clear the Right of Way. At one point over the scanner I hear BNSF engineer Michael “Mad-Dog” Sawyer ask the crew in the plow, “DID YOU FEEL THAT? Did we just move the ROW?” There was a long pause and then the crew retracts the damaged sway arm on the 40 year old plow, electing to put safety first by plowing the ROW, and then make another run to further clear the snow known as “Cascade Concrete.”
